MISSOULA, Mont. — For the first time ever, Montana will host the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation’s World Elk Calling Championships, presented by Sportsman’s Warehouse. The one-day competition will take place on Saturday, June 24, 2023, in Big Sky.
“We can’t wait to welcome the world’s best elk callers to Montana,” said Riza Lesser, RMEF managing director of marketing and communication. “And with more than $45,000 in cash and prizes available for the contestants, it should be a great, competitive day.”
The calling competition is part of the RMEF MTN Fest, presented by onX Hunt, June 23-25 at Big Sky Resort, that includes the Total Archery Challenge, a base camp featuring outdoor industry vendors and a Saturday evening celebration to raise funds for RMEF’s mission.
The 2023 field includes all five defending champions as well as other past winners.
Participants will go head-to-head in a bracketed format in one of five different divisions – professional, women’s, men’s, youth and pee wee. Preliminary matches are single elimination but shift to double elimination in the professional, men’s and women’s divisions once down to their final four.
All contestants must preregister here by Wednesday, June 14. There are no entry fees and the competition is open to any qualifying person. All calling participants will be entered into a drawing for a $500 gift card from Sportsman’s Warehouse. Admission to the competition is free and open to the public in the Missouri Ballroom, Yellowstone Convention Center, Huntley Lodge.
In addition to Sportsman’s Warehouse, other event sponsors include Bow Spider, Browning, Buck Knives, Eberlestock, Hoyt, Leupold, Montana Decoy, Nosler, Schnee’s, Sitka and Swagger.
“We appreciate our sponsors whose support not only makes the championships possible, but they supply great gear prizes for our callers,” said Lesser.
