Below is a news release from Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP). For 2023-2025, Fiocchi partnered with the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation to increase the visibility of poaching incidents in an effort to reduce poaching.
Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is seeking information about elk that were killed in the Knowlton area east of Miles City.
On Oct. 28, FWP warden Oliver Gulig was dispatched to a call on private land near the Knowlton Travel Management Area, which is administered by the Bureau of Land Management. Wardens found two elk that had been shot and left to waste in the field.
It is suspected that the elk were shot that same morning. The person(s)who shot the elk had not obtained permission from the landowner to hunt the parcel.
Anyone with possible information about this incident is encouraged to visit https://myfwp.mt.gov/fwpPub/tipmont to provide details or call the FWP violation reporting hot line at 1-800-TIP-MONT (and/or Game Warden Oliver Gulig at 406-853-7400 or Sgt. Casey Prell at 406-853-1801). You may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
