Colorado Parks and Wildlife is offering a series of clinics to sharpen your skills and gain confidence in the field for the upcoming hunting season.
Big Game Hunting Skills Clinic – Saturday, July 20 – Conifer, CO – This event targets the new adult big game hunter with a series of topics to improve skills and knowledge while avoiding common mistakes and pitfalls. Building on the information covered in traditional hunter education classes, this clinic will move new hunters down the path toward a solid foundation of skills and knowledge needed to be successful in the field.
Novice Hunter Program – Saturday, July 27 – Wellington, CO – The Novice Hunter Program (NHP) supports the new hunter, adults, and youth, through detailed pheasant hunting knowledge, practical field experience, and quality instruction on a trap range. Students will attend a classroom portion covering pheasant biology, habitat, where to hunt, regulations, ethics, safety, gear, and field tactics. They will progress to a half-day field session that includes a wing-shooting clinic and simulated hunt.
Waterfowl 101 – Friday, August 9 – Colorado Springs, CO – This is an introduction class to waterfowl hunting. Students will cover waterfowl ID, techniques, gear/tools laws and regulations and will be given some helpful advice on where to go. This class is open to all.
Big Game Scouting 101 – Monday, August 12 – Johnstown, CO – Scouting for big game hunts is a year-round effort. Join Colorado Parks and Wildlife at the Scheels store in Johnstown to prepare for the upcoming season and get a jump-start for next year. We will discuss resources to use from home, applying data from the hunt statistics, in the field tips, and a theory on how to make the most of your hunting opportunities. This is a free seminar.
