Colorado Governor Jared Polis signed an executive order that directs state agencies to work together to protect migration corridors for elk, moose, deer and other wildlife.
“Colorado’s natural beauty and wildlife are part of why so many people love our great state,” said Polis. “This is a step toward better understanding and protecting the migratory patterns of Colorado’s wildlife populations and ensuring we can preserve our treasured animals and their habitats.”
The executive order does not include funding.
The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation provided funding toward purchase of the cameras that document the wildlife movement along Colorado Highway 9 south of Kremmling, a stretch of roadway that historically featured a high number of wildlife-vehicle collisions.
