The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources (DWR) and SWVA Sportsmen announced the Virginia Elk Experience Sweepstakes generated $77,820 for conservation. The winner received a prize package that included a one-year subscription to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation’s Bugle magazine.
Virginia’s inaugural elk hunt in 2022 raised more than $606,000 for conservation, including $93,000 generated by the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation which raffled off the state’s first-ever elk conservation license.
DWR also awarded RMEF its 2023 elk conservation license, the winner of which will be announced Saturday, August 12 at the RMEF Southwest Virginia Coalfields Chapter banquet in Oakwood.
