Long-time Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation volunteer and life member Ron Dube is one of four inductees heading into the Wyoming Outdoor Hall of Fame, which honors individuals who have made significant, lasting and lifetime contributions to the conservation of Wyoming’s outdoor heritage.
Dube is an accomplished outfitter, professional horseman and dedicated conservationist. He guided hundreds of hunters over the years and played a critical role in the development of the Wyoming Professional Board of Outfitters. As a devoted RMEF member, he raised more than $70,000 from hunts he donated. In 1996, he received the RMEF Outfitter Advisory Committee Service Award.
Dube also played a significant role in the creation of the RMEF World Elk Calling Championships in 1989 along with fellow volunteer Fred McClanahan, Jr., and served as emcee of the event for years.
The other inductees are retired Wyoming Game and Fish Department biologist Thomas Ryder, retired fisheries biologist Dr. Wayne Hubert and Albert Nelson, who served as Wyoming’s first game warden in 1899. The induction ceremony will take place on November 14 in Cody at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West.
