It’s not quite Christmas but tis the season of rejoicing (and disappointment) for many hunters. Different states already have or soon will reveal results of drawings and lotteries for elk hunting the fall of 2018. New Mexico and North Dakota are two states that already conducted draws.
In New Mexico, more than 203,000 applicants tried for about 58,000 elk, deer, antelope, oryx, ibex, Barbary sheep and javelina licenses — an all-time application record and a 7 percent increase over 2017.
North Dakota received 18,079 applications for elk, 14,617 for bighorn sheep and 21,042 for moose.
