Elk NetworkWin a Stihl Chainsaw Like Those Used on RMEF Work Projects
General , RMEF Working for You | June 2, 2025

Whether they’re clearing conifers that encroach on aspen stands, removing fencing that blocks travel corridors for elk and other wildlife, or improving trailheads to facilitate public access to hunting, hiking and other outdoor activities, RMEF volunteers aren’t afraid of hard work. But that doesn’t mean they don’t appreciate tools that make their tasks easier.
STIHL, which supports many RMEF mission projects through loans of equipment such as chainsaws, brushcutters and protective gear, plays an important role in helping RMEF volunteers accomplish what they set out to do. STIHL employees also give their time to take on some of the work identified by RMEF as vital to habitat improvement, conservation and hunting heritage.
“It’s great to work with a partner like STIHL that not only contributes resources to our missions but also puts boots on the ground alongside RMEF members and volunteers in completing important projects,” says Robb Latrielle, RMEF managing director of marketing and partnerships. “We know we can count on STIHL to help get the job done.”
To showcase the rugged reliability of STIHL equipment, RMEF and STIHL are giving away an MSA 300 C-O battery-operated chainsaw, AP 500 S lithium-ion battery and AL 301 rapid battery charger. See below to enter and for official rules. Entries will be accepted from June 9, 2025, to June 13, 2025. One grand–prize winner will receive the chainsaw, battery and battery charger.
The MSA 300 C-O chainsaw was one of many STIHL products used during a recent RMEF work project to improve habitat for elk and other wildlife on the 15,500-acre Minam River Wildlife Area in northeast Oregon. The most powerful battery-operated chainsaw in the STIHL lineup, the MSA 300 C-O comes with a variety of guide bar lengths, from 16-inch to 20-inch bars, and a convenient, human-machine interface (HMI) located by the handle of the saw that provides key indicators on power performance as well as bar-and-chain oil level. Lightweight and compact, the STIHL brushless motor is powered by the 36-volt AP 500 S lithium-ion battery, which provides up to 44 minutes of continuous runtime. When it’s time to recharge, the AL 301 charger quickly brings the AP 500 battery back to full power while protecting against overload.
“With none of the odor or potential spills associated with gas, STIHL battery-powered saws like the MSA 300 C-O are perfect for hunters, campers and anyone who places a premium on convenience,” says Andrew Johnson, STIHL marketing manager. “The MSA 300 C-O is the perfect combination of portability and power.”
