Montana’s Elkhorn Mountains are known to feature some of the best elk habitat in Big Sky Country. And that habitat is getting a boost thanks to work funded by the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
According to the Independent Record, the Helena-Lewis and Clark is teaming up with the Bureau of Land Management’s Butte Field Office and Broadwater County Weed District to carry out noxious weed treatment about seven miles northwest of Townsend.
The purpose is to improve elk winter range while also benefitting native grassland and increasing forage production.
