Nearly eight months after disappearing while elk hunting in South Dakota, a resident found a body believed to be Larry Genzlinger. Authorities say the discovery took place in the Deerfield Lake area within Black Hills National Forest.
“Our deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends of Larry Genzlinger,” says Pennington County Sheriff Kevin Thom. “The family has been notified and we hope this helps begin their healing process.”
In October 2019, Genzlinger was hunting with a nephew but did not return to a rendezvous point at day’s end. Search and rescue crews responded but had no luck. Snow cover and wintery conditions eventually stopped search efforts until this spring.
Genzlinger was a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
